Greetings
It’s October and in less than thirty days we’ll be participating in the most important election of our lifetimes.
Are you registered to vote? Are you sure? It would be a shame if you found out at the poll that you weren’t on the voter rolls.
I know you’re probably excited about the presidential election, but that’s not the only election that’s going on. It’s been a long time coming, and Chicago is finally going to have an elected school board. Ten people will be elected and eleven board members will be appointed. You can read all about it in this issue, and you can find out whose running. Whether or not you have a child or grandchild in the Chicago Public School, we all should be concerned about educating our future.
One way Real Men Charities is involved is through an awesome program called Enter CHIshorties. Through this program, teens are learning to tell their stories, using today’s technology. Deleshia Kinney tells it all in a wonderful way that’ll make you wish you were a teen again.
But if you’re just exiting teen-hood and now belong to Generation Z, you can probably relate very well to Part II of how Generation Z feels about voting and elections and especially this election. But you don’t have to be in that Generation to appreciate this informative and enlightening article, so artfully written by the newest member of our writing staff, Joy Williams.
Speaking of elections, the most loyal voting block are the folks known as the Baby Boomers, and those a little older are called The Silent Generation. And nobody knows this generation better than AARP. So if you’re wondering what the issues are that make this generation so eager to get out and vote, you’ll learn those answers and more from four seniors who not only agree on the issues, but definitely agree on the importance of this election, or for that matter every election. If you’re not motivated to vote, I hope that after reading this you’ll be anxiously looking forward to getting into that voting booth. Yes, your vote counts. Yes, you can make a difference.
